**1. はじめに**

陸上植物の成長は、土壌微生物群集によって調節されており、これらの微生物は根に特定の化合物を分泌させる(Anderson et al., 2024)。根圏の微生物と根の排出物は、植物の成長状態の敏感な指標として機能します。陸上植物の地上部および地下部には広範な微生物集団が存在し、根圏微生物群集の遺伝子の豊富さはしばしば宿主植物を上回ります。したがって、マイクロバイオームは「第二の植物ゲノム」と表現されています(Mendes et al., 2013)。根圏マイクロバイオームが植物の健康に重要な役割を果たすことを示す十分な証拠があります(Berendsen et al., 2012)。

スイカ(Citrullus lanatus (Thumb.))は、独特の風味と豊富な栄養価が世界的に評価されている主要なウリ科の園芸作物であり(Guo et al., 2013)、広く栽培されています。現代のスイカ生産の産業化と専門化、そして世界的な肥料の過剰使用の課題は、持続的な連作や不適切な窒素管理により、植物の成長と収量に悪影響を及ぼしています(Hakeem et al., 2011)。窒素を多く必要とする作物であるスイカは、特に窒素の過剰施用に敏感です(Nawaz et al., 2018)。保護栽培システムにおける化学肥料の過剰使用は、しばしば非効率的な生産性、増加した生産コスト、土壌汚染の悪化を引き起こします(Pang et al., 2017)。肥料使用の削減に向けた世界的な取り組みは、農業における化学肥料から有機肥料への移行を加速させています。有機肥料の施用は、土壌の有機窒素含量を改善するために不可欠であり、化学肥料に比べて有機肥料は栄養素をより徐々に放出し、持続性が高く、浸出に対しても少ないため、繰り返しの過剰施用を避けることができます。植物は無機窒素と有機窒素の両方の形態を直接取得し利用することができます(Murphy et al., 2000)。作物土壌中で最も豊富な遊離アミノ酸の一つであるグリシンは(Wang et al., 2014)、その最小の分子量と単純な構造により、無機窒素の有望な代替品とされています。

接ぎ木は、特にスイカ生産において、連作の悪影響を軽減し、病気抵抗性を高め、ミネラルの吸収を改善するために広く用いられる農業技術です(Edelstein et al., 2011; Rivero et al., 2003)。栽培中に自毒物質が土壌に蓄積する可能性がありますが、接ぎ木による根の交換は根圏の微生物群を変化させ、これらの物質の分解を促進することができます(Wang et al., 2023)。接ぎ木された植物の根系は、機能的な微生物群集を引き寄せ、再形成する能力を持ち、植物の健康を維持し(Poudel et al., 2019)、微生物の安定性を高めることができます。
